While Ted Bundy was serving his death sentence row, Carole Ann Boone fell in love with him and had his child.
Her romantic adventure with Bundy began in 1974 after she had just divorced her second husband. While working at the Department of Emergency Services in Olympia, Washington, Boone and Bundy met for the first time. In order to locate many women he killed, Bundy assisted the officers in conducting search operations.
In the book The Only Living Witness: The True Story of Serial Sex Killer Ted Bundy by Stephen G. Michaud and Hugh Aynesworth, Boone describes Bundy as “a lusty-tempered free spirit”.
“I liked Ted immediately. We hit it off well.” Boone continued, “He struck me as a shy person with a lot more going on under the surface than what was on the surface.”

He fled to Florida and committed two heinous crimes. He murdered Chi Omega sorority girls Margaret Bowman and Lisa Levy, and kidnapped, assaulted, and murdered 12-year-old Kimberly Leach. He also relocated to Florida to attend Bundy’s trial, in which Bundy was acting as his own defense attorney.

In an interview, Boone stated, “Let me put it this way, I do not believe Ted belongs in jail. The things in Florida don’t concern me as much as things in the west.”
Ted Bundy should not be charged with murder in either Leon County or Columbia County, according to her.
As her conviction was very strong, she decided to relocate to Gainesville, about 40 miles from the prison. Every week, she visited Ted and his son Jayme.
During his trial, Bundy revealed that his relationship with Boone had become more serious and romantic in recent years.
During their book, Michaud and Aynesworth wrote: “They were crazy together. Carole loved him. She told him she wanted a child, and somehow they had sex in prison.” Touching was permitted, and there were times when intercourse could take place behind a water cooler, in the restroom, or even at a table.”
Despite the fact that it was not allowed inside the prison technically, Boone explained that one of the security guards was very nice and simply ignored their activities.
Carole Ann Boone was heard saying, “After the first day they just didn’t care. They walked in on us a couple of times.”
It was common at the jail for visitors to bribe security guards in order to get some personal time with the prisoners, according to Ann Rule, a former Seattle police officer and author of the book The Stranger Beside Me on Bundy.
